Theory and Science in Art Practice
(A Collection of Texts on Art Research) 

The literature on art research in Hungarian, which has become a familiar and inescapable part of art higher education, is rather scarce. This is why the idea of creating a collection of texts in Hungarian has emerged, which could also serve as a useful teaching aid or handbook. The book allocates space to various types of texts, ranging from individual studies to book chapters, artistic fieldwork, institutional documents, and educational policy documents. Just as the styles of these texts vary, so too do the methods of referencing and annotation employed by the authors.

The primary focus was to create a book that is comfortably sized, easy to read, and durable. The soft cover is coated with synthetic canvas, upon which the text is screen printed. The cover highlights the authors, with the title appearing only on the spine. Asymmetrical page pairs aid orientation by ensuring that footnotes always correspond to the paragraph where the relevant text appears. Some texts have no footnotes, while others contain footnotes that constitute a significant part of the text; this diversity lends visual variety to the publication. Instead of rounded corners, the corners have been cut, reflecting the internal geometry of the book and the experimental spirit of artistic research.
